Who we are
We’re Shefford Saints Junior Football Club, based in the market town of Shefford in Central Bedfordshire. We were formed in 1989 and have been on an amazing journey ever since!
From humble beginnings, we now provide football coaching and teams for over 560 children, and have 46 different squads registered for the 24/25 season!
We provide a safe, inclusive and enjoyable place for children to get involved in football. Starting with our U6 Fundamental sessions, through Pan-Disabilities Football squads to our U18 teams.
what we achieve
It’s not just football that we provide. We’re a club determined to help our young people develop lifelong friendships and have fun together. We focus on enjoyment, inclusivity and ensuring children create fond memories of their childhood football.
We’re providing fitness opportunities for 560+ children, twice a week, with an emphasis on learning. Coaches provide sessions designed to develop players’ skills across the FA 4-corners model, focussing on the key areas of Social, Physical, Psychological and Technical / Tactical.
how we operate
Like most grassroots football clubs, we’re volunteers. Every single person involved volunteers their time to help ensure the children of Shefford and our surrounding areas have football teams to play in.
All our coaches are at least FA level 1 qualified, have a full and valid DBS check in place, and have completed the latest safeguarding and first aid in football courses.
Our committee
With a team of dedicated volunteers stepping forward to be part of the committee, we operate professionally and effectively. Regular committee meetings, monthly managers’ meetings and the AGM provide control, communication and transparency.
From the chairman to lead football officers, the financial controller to fixture secretary, welfare officer to social media manager, club secretary to pitch manager. We have everything in place to safeguard the future of the club in the present, with the drive and desire to continue to develop and grow the club for the community in the future.
our pathway
We have a full pathway plan in place to give players of Shefford Saints a genuine route to senior men’s football.
We’re part of the Shefford Community Club program which also includes Shefford Sports Club, run by Shefford Sports Community Association. Forming close links with Shefford Town & Campton FC, we’ve brought both clubs together to ensure there’s a pathway to a high standard of adult football in our local area.
Our men’s adult First Team is in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division after promotion in 2022. This is Step 5 in the Non-League Pyramid and the team participates in the FA Cup & FA Vase as well as local cup competitions. Definitely something for our young players to aspire to in their own local area!
